I have been reading more lately about the plans on the Port Gardner wharf in Everett, and have been impressed. The plans are certainly ambitious but bring the promise of more jobs and a bustling commercial space that could set the scene for another Kirkland like presence here in the North End. Absolutely awesome!
The current plan from the website outlines “…2,300+ slips and marina there will be an extraordinary mix of homes, unique shops, restaurants, open-air markets, 18 acres of parks and open spaces, business offices, overnight lodging, and other first-class amenities and services.” More Everett Restaurants will also be a huge boon, expecially in a marina setting just like Kirkland.
In addition, Port Gardner is already pre-selling Everett Condos that start in the low $400K and up. I believe this development will have a huge impact on the North End economy and will revive the city of Everett’s downtown and the Everett Real Estate market.
The Next Kirkland? I think it might take some time to fully develop, but as traffic gets worse down I-5 I think we will start seeing more dollars flowing into the North End. With higher end homes and condos in the marina, I believe we are well on our way.
To the North End!
